Submissions

Distillery Publishing is a small independent publisher currently focused on fantasy fiction. We are interested in strong stories, distinctive voices, and work that feels built to last rather than written only to chase a trend.
At this stage, we are reviewing submissions selectively. We are not trying to build a large catalogue quickly. We are looking for fantasy projects that fit the scale, taste, and publishing capacity of a small press.
What we are looking for
We are especially interested in fantasy with clear emotional stakes, memorable characters, and a strong sense of place. This may include secondary-world fantasy, cozy or low-stakes fantasy, adventure fantasy, mythic fantasy, sword and sorcery, romantic fantasy, and genre-blending work with a clear fantasy foundation.
A strong submission should show command of story, character, and atmosphere. We are drawn to fantasy that gives readers a reason to care, whether through wonder, intimacy, danger, mystery, humor, longing, or transformation. Worldbuilding matters, but it should serve the characters and the reader's emotional experience.
What we are not looking for
We are not currently looking for rough drafts, AI-generated manuscripts, plagiarized work, or projects submitted before the author has revised and proofread them. We are also not the right fit for work that depends primarily on shock value, hate speech, or exploitative depictions of real-world trauma.
Response times
Response times will vary depending on submission volume. Because Distillery Publishing is a small operation, we may not be able to provide detailed feedback on every submission. A rejection does not necessarily mean the work is poor. It may simply mean the project is not the right fit for our list, schedule, or current publishing capacity.
Terms
By submitting, you confirm that the work is your own, that you have the right to submit it, and that you understand submission does not create a publishing agreement. No rights are granted unless a formal contract is signed by both parties.
